    What is SEO?

SEO is the process of optimisation your website and other properties to ensure large search engines such as Google and Bing allow your site to rank high, and hopefully on page 1. Research shows that if your not on page 1 of google it highly unlikely that you'll be able to improve the traffic of your website.

Jono Farrington of Silicon Dales Australia SEO has been kind enough to provide some tips on how you can improve your ranking on your own.

    1. Make sure your website is structured and organised correctly. This means that not only does it need to look good, but also categorised properly so the search engines can crawl the site and understand what it is about.

    2. Make sure the site has enough relevant content. This includes having enough content on each page, but also relevant and not iverly optimised. For example if your are trying to rank for a certain keyword,  you don't want to have it 100 times on the page. Once or twice is fine.

    3. Make sure your images are optimised, have alternate text and also a little hint is to make sure they are geo-tagged to the region or location you are trying to target. This can be done with tools such as Picasa.

    4. Use other high powered directory sites such as Yellowpages, Truelocal and Yelp. These sites are designed to help small business, and having your information and a link to your website on those sites will power up your own site.

These tips are just a start but you can certain improve your website performance greatly with just the implementation of the above strategies.
